It not only allows you to spend quality time outdoor with your little one, but also helps you stay healthy, keep your sanity and get back in shape all at once.

While a traditional regular stroller is fine for a nice walk around the block, you'll quickly find that it's not caught up for running, jogging and hiking. Jogging strollers are designed to provide safety and comfort to your child and support and enjoyable experience to you while you are on a trail.

According to Brad Hudson, a professional coach out of Boulder Colorado who specializes in training jog-strolling runners, moms can get back into shape faster by working out with a jogging stroller. He points out jogging strollers can add resistance to your standard running workout.

Hudson states that jogging strollers are great for your core and back muscles, and suggests using one on moderate hills for an added challenge two days per week and running across flat terrain during the other days.

When first shopping for a jogging stroller, you may feel a bit intimidated due to the large number of makes, models and prices available. When choosing a jogging stroller, remember all strollers have different minimum age requirements. Also make sure that your baby's head is properly supported and strong enough for a ride.

It's also important to note that most jogging strollers are front facing. That means your child will be exposed to sun, winds and cold as you run.

It's important to dress your baby appropriate for the weather. While there are countless features to compare, we compared 5 jogging strollers based on performance, design and price to determine which one would be the best fit for you and your new jogging routine.

1. Baby Jogger Summit X3 Single Stroller: $429 Amazon

  • Performance: 10
  • Price: 9
  • Overall Score: 9.5

All around best jogging stroller around in our opinions. It features a remote swivel lock mounted on the handlebar to lock the front wheel straight or release it to swivel mode with the press of a button, a nice feature especially when you are running on downhill. It features an independent all wheel suspension system to help keep your baby comfortable as you jog over rough terrain.

Its ergonomic handlebar makes jogging comfortable while the padded five-point safety harness keeps your baby safe. Large canopy, two peek a boo windows, air vented seat and large tires make this stroller's design a pleasing one. While this stroller has the highest price tag on our list, the smoothness of the ride, must-have and nice-to have functionalities and design make it worth the price. It's on Amazon for $429.

Its state of the art suspension system helps to keep your baby comfortable when hitting those lumps and bumps in the road. It features a large fixed front wheel, sturdy five-point harness, a padded seat and large backrest to ensure both you and your baby's comfortable experience with convenience.

This is one of the higher priced strollers, but is definitely worth the money. It's on Amazon for $336.

3. Joovy Zoom 360 Swivel Wheel Jogging Stroller : $249 Amazon

  • Design: 9.5
  • Performance: 8.0
  • Price: 9.0
  • Overall Score: 9.0

Joovy Zoom 360 is one stroller that gives you more bang for your buck. Accessories like air pump, mom's organizer, and rain cover are all included.

It's one of the largest jogging strollers on market and takes a child up to 75 lbs. One thing to note is your child must be at least 6 month old.

Unlike the Summit X3 and B.O.B Ironman that are well built for serious runners and designed to support long-distance, hard surface runs, Joovy Zoom 360 is for parents who want to run and jog for leisure in style.

It lacks an essential feature like brake on the handle which is well appreciated by runner who run downhills, but if you are a glam mom who like to be in style even during your runs, this stroller sure has the flare and stylish look I'm sure trendy yet sporty moms can appreciate.

It's a great option for moms who run for leisure and want something more than a traditional regular stroller. It is also the most stylish jogging stroller with color options other joggers do not offer.

It's currently selling on Amazon for $249 and comes in red, blue and black.

4. Jeep Overland Limited Jogging Stroller : $209 Amazon

  • Design: 8.0
  • Performance: 8.5
  • Price: 9.0
  • Overall Score: 8.5

Compared to the higher end of jogging strollers, Jeep Overland is a steal for the money. It's got all the bells and whistles of other high end jogging strollers for half of their cost.

In addition to the jogging stroller necessities such as front fixed wheel, air filled tires, adjustable handle, adjustable canopy, and brake on the handle, this stroller is unique in the fact that it has the iBaby sound system, which can play music for both the parent and baby.

Another great feature of this stroller is its onboard speed and distance odometer. It's also easy to fold and stands upright when folded keeping the stroller clean and off the ground.

Two major things to note are maximum weight load and front fixed wheel. Unlike Baby Jogger Summit X3, B.O.B. Ironman and Joovy Zoom 360 that have a maximum weight over 70 lbs, this stroller only accommodates a child up to 45 lbs.

If longevity of the stroller is your main concern, it's one thing to keep in mind. It's also worth mentioning that its front wheel is fixed and doesn't have a swivel mode.

If jogging is the only purpose for your terrain stroller, this may be fine, but if you plan to use it daily to run errands in addition to your running routines, maneuverability may be one thing you may need to prioritize. Regardless, this is a great jogging stroller for the money. It's on Amazon for $209.
